Paid Family and Medical Leave is still a hot topic in Massachusetts, although the recently delayed opening has provided a bit of breathing room for businesses needing to comply, and has given the State a chance to answer some of our more pressing questions.
One of our main questions was: If the children and spouse of a self employed S-Corp employer are being compensated, are they exempt from the tax?
The answer came back from the state: Yes, children and spouses are exempt from the program.
